Club!

I'm at Saranac (a YL camp in NY) for a staff time this whole week, and pretty much have been on the go since before club last week, but I wanted to give a quick update on club...

It was awesome! First off. THANK YOU for praying with us! Seriously. We truly felt carried, and are so grateful to have people that are in this with us. Club was incredible. The kids had a BLAST. My phone kept going off all night afterwards of kids saying how much fun they had. They experienced the gospel in such a real way. There was total joy, laughter, people felt loved. We had a ton of fun and we talked about Jesus. It was a total success. I look forward to writing more (and have a few stories to share!)

But for now…here's a few pictures from the night…with explanations to come later = )

Go & make disciples.

That is our call as followers of Christ. 'With all authority given to Jesus, therefore go.' So that is what we, as a team in Pittsford, are doing. We are going and making disciples. And through that, the Lord has led us and ministry in Pittsford to YL Club! Lord willing, it's happening on Thursday! And we're really looking forward to it. We've been talking and praying about this for a while, we've waited a long time for the Lord to move in certain ways for it to happen, and we are just ready to have some fun with these kids!

We've said all along that our purpose in club is this: to have fun & live life to the full, to love people, and to talk about Jesus. And we can't wait to do just that on Thursday! It's going to be a celebration. And I'm pumped.

What's cool is that I already deem club a success. Why? Because through the planning for club, we've had the opportunity to go and make disciples. Last night, our team got to spend time with a few high school kids practicing music. We sat in my basement for over 2 hours goofing around, actually practicing, preparing, praying, and in worship. It was the best, and in that we were making disciples. We've had the last month or so of campaigners being about loving people, sharing the gospel, and what club could be about. We've looked into different scripture and looked at Jesus and the way he lived his life. In that, we were making disciples. We've made t-shirts! But through the t-shirts, gave kids the opportunity to design something, to work hard, to vote, to encourage each other, and to really lift up some gifts they've been given. And in that, we were making disciples. We got to take 15 high school kids to the Lodge, to blast music in the parking lot, to talk about what club could look like, and pray with them! Pray for their friends, their school, and for them. In that, we were making disciples.

Pittsford YL Club has already been a success. The Lord is moving. I'm just so thankful that we get to be part of it.

PLEASE pray with us! Pray that the Lord would draw kids to club Thursday night. Pray that they wouldn't be able to stay away. That Christ would be proclaimed in everything that happens there, in word and deed. That eternal decision would be made. That everyone there (leaders, kids who know Christ, and kids who don't, committee) would know that they are loved by the God of the universe solely because He created them!

7:18. Thursday night. Set your alarms and pray with us! I look forward to sharing more about what the Lord does in Pittsford this week!

Pittsford YL CLUB!

The Lodge!
Great news….Pittsford YL Club is happening! We have had someone graciously decide to pay for us to use the Lodge (located at a park in town) and it is SWEET. We are so excited. It's a great location…neutral, everyone knows where it is, there's plenty of parking, a small field area next to it, playground, plenty of space to spread out but contained so we don't have to worry about kids being all over someone's street, the building itself is so great. We're really excited about this. It is the type of place kids rent out for sweet sixteen parties, grad parties, banquets, etc. All things of this world. Now it will be remembered for YL. We brought our campaigner kids there to share vision and pray over it. Our team has been praying over it, and our committee has signed up, one person each day, to go and pray on the property up until club starts.

I was there the other day praying for club and was thinking about the impact the Lord could have on kids through this place. If kids meet Christ at camp, they always remember the specific rock or bench where they first prayed. That can happen at this place! 4 years from now, a college girl can bring her boyfriend back to Pittsford and show him this place, where the Lord completely changed everything about her life. Where she realized her purpose and realized that she was loved by the God of the universe. How cool is that?!

Team Pittsford praying at the Lodge
So Pittsford's first club is scheduled for Thursday, April 19 at 7:18. The kids are stoked. They have designed a t-shirt and are pumped. They're inviting their friends. They're practicing music, mixers, skits, getting everyone involved. And they're praying! They are praying for their friends. Praise the Lord.

While they are excited, part of them is nervous it's not going to 'work'. "What if no one comes?" Here's my response: (and what I'm really looking forward to…) We are called to go and make disciples. To love people and serve people. We have an opportunity to invite kids to young life club to have fun, be loved, and hear the gospel. So we will do just that. We will be faithful and obedient and do everything in our power from now until club to get everyone we know there. But the beauty of it all is the Lord is going to get people there ultimately. So when 7:18 on that Thursday comes, we are going to celebrate. Celebrate every kid that is in that room. We're going to live life to the full, love people, and talk about Jesus with kids. Whether that's 100+ kids who have never heard the gospel, 30 kids who came every week 2 years ago, or the same 15 kids that were at campaigners last week. It's up to the Lord, we're just along for the ride.

Specific prayer requests:
-75 kids would pack the Lodge on April 19th
-That campaigner kids would find joy in inviting people from their school
-That every kid who comes would have fun, feel loved, and hear/experience the gospel
-That kids would give their lives to Christ!

Please join us in praying!
